Our art

painting

The Childs Capital collection includes works of art displayed in our offices. The central theme of the collection is the celebration of the dignity, spirit and creativity of the individual. The works in the collection remind us of our calling and the people we serve.

We treat this as our "curator's choice" page where we highlight recent additions to our collection, such as this painting we acquired in Africa. The painting shows the map of Guinea, with the borders of the country shown in the national colors of the Guinean flag. Notice the red paint "bleeding" into the country's borders. Guinea's neighbors, the Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Liberia, have been engulfed in violence. The items "spilling" across the country represent various non-governmental organizations. This painting captures the essence of Guinea in a way that inspires us every day.

artist

Here you see the artist, Mr. Abdoulaye Koulilibaly, with his works in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, where he lives. His work has been shown at the National Museum of Sandervalia. Mr. Koulilibaly paints, draws and sculpts using media he recovers from refuse. Working in one of the poorest countries of the world, he creates art from materials that have been discarded. His commitment to creative expression is extraordinary as he works under conditions that artists in the developed world cannot even imagine.
