The chrysalis is the symbol of our company. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar breaks down and the resulting cells form a butterfly. The metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly is one of the most remarkable events in nature. We chose the chrysalis as our symbol when we learned of a lady in India who borrowed US$30 for supplies and set up a tea stall. She sold beverages to local workers, repaid the loan and eventually was able to send her children to school. We couldn't think of a better metaphor for the hard work and beauty of the clients we serve. |

Green and gold represent both the chrysalis and capital. Green represents the chrysalis, spring and new beginnings. Green also represents capital, particularly where the "greenback", or U.S. dollar, is the preferred medium of exchange. Gold represents wealth and the chrysalis. The interior of the chrysalis is coated with gold dust, used by people of ancient cultures to adorn themselves, as they believed it would bring wealth. |
This animation shows the monarch caterpillar forming its chrysalis. This process takes several hours from the time the caterpillar suspends itself in the "J" formation. It will remain in the chrysalis for approximately two weeks. When the butterfly first emerges from the chrysalis, its wings are very small. Its abdomen is filled with fluid that is pumped into the veins of its tiny wings. The butterfly must suspend itself upside down and allow its wings to dry and expand before it can fly away. |
